Jan ‘08 report: southbound twice
The 2008 season is up and running despite the chilly temperatures!
James’ first assignment as the new co-chief of Timing & Scoring for Grand-Am was to report to Daytona for the Test Days on January 4-6. Of course he would need a co-driver and photographer for this kind of adventure, so Jon came along. Pics are here: http://www.get-fast.net/gallery/08gatd
A couple of weeks later we did the “End (and Beginning) of Season Celebration” for NASA’s Mid Atlantic autocrossers. This involved a whole bunch of racing at G-Force Karts in Richmond, then a trip to BW3’s for food and BEvERageS. Good times!
Then it was back on the road. James and Frank drove to Daytona to work the 24hr sports car race for Grand-Am on the 24th-27th. Meanwhile Jon flew into Jacksonville and rented a car. The race weekend was a great time despite the usual lack of sleep! Pics are here: http://www.get-fast.net/gallery/08rolex24.
Jon then went south for the ALMS Winter Test Days at Sebring (pics: http://www.get-fast.net/gallery/08almstd ), to visit his parents in Naples, and to spin down to Key West via the Everglades for some pre-season relaxation.
By the first weekend in February everyone was home safe, looking forward to the impending season, and missing the lovely Florida weather!
